Rojer Federer crumbled out
Swiss number one seed Rojer Federer crashed out of Wimbledon by Czech 12th seed Tomas Berdych by 6-4, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 victory over defending champion in the quarter finals. Rojer Federer reign brought to an end in a sensational fashion as he grabbed the Wimbledon title six times and appearing in every final since 2003, and he was the permanent feature on centre court from last many years. Rojer Federer experienced a humbling defeat from the tournament which he graced from so long. In 2002, he lost first round match against Croatia’s Mario Ancic and then beaten just once in the hand of Rafael Nadal in the 2008 final.
Czech Berdych produced a life time performance and earns a semi final spot with Serbian third seed Novak Djokovic. Rojer Federer failed to win any of his eight tournaments since beating Andy Murray in the Australian Open final in Jan 2010. Rojder Federer run of 23 successive Grand Slam semi finals appearances was shattered at the French Open and he even lost for just the second time in 78 matches on grass when Lleyton Hewitt beat him in the final at Halle earlier this month. After his devastating loss, many questions comes in mind that Rojer hunger needed to sustain his remarkable run of success at international level, and his second successive grand slam quarter final exit.
Therefore Federer had superior record against Czech Berdych, and won eight of previous 10 encounters. Berdych a lofty 6ft 5in tall, has the ideal frame to bring a barrage of big serves and his fearsome delivery kept Federer from establishing any thrust in the first set. The 24 year old had never been past the last eight here but he was in excellent shape after making the French Open semi finals earlier this month. Federer had escaped from an even more terrifying position in the first round match when he came from two sets down to defeat Alejandro Falla. But Berdych had never lost a five set match at Wimbledon. Berdych made him pay to seal one of the biggest upsets in Wimbledon history.
